The above boat is near me and in good shape. I looked it over before I bought my boat and would have bought it but the guy was asking $15k. Glad to see he has moved on it a bit. The bottom paint needs to be removed and the boat has the original sails, but the interior is pristine. The guy stores the boat under a metal canopy so the entire boat mostly stays out of the weather most of the time as the owner trailer sailed the boat. The trailer is one of the best I have seen and looks almost new.

I bought this boat yesterday and will take it to Gulfport MS in about a month. I'm thinking of buying the salvage that US Auctions has going on this weekend, since that boat is just a few miles from me. Does anyone think that the roller furling on that boat can be repaired? I will probably part out the rest of the boat, but we can see what the interest is in the forum as to what the best thing to do is.

im my opinion this is not a parts boat, there are to few of them to begin with. It would be more profitable to fix it up & sell it. $50k in the land of OZ

The Rollerfurler may be one of the Flexi-Furlers, in which case it's probably fine. If not, replacing the track may not be worth the expense. Depending on my wife's preference, I may be selling my CDI Flexifurler in the near future.

Broker says that she has been delivered for new bottom paint. Still thinking about the name, but last weekend's binge yielded "Fleeting Glimpse", a phrase out of the Pink Floyd song "Comfortably Numb" which I think is on the Dark Side of the Moon Album. all three of which might make decent names!

We brought Fleeting Glimpse from Texas to Mississippi last weekend. We pulled her right through Dallas rush hour traffic and then hit about 70 miles per hour for the rest of the trip. We had strong crosswinds of about 25 miles per hour from the low pressure system that came through the midwest, but didn't have any problems. Only incident was I lost the masthead light lens.
The Texas registration numbers are now off, she has been cleaned and I expect to put her in the water next Saturday.

I'm sure Jon will jump in any minute to tell you that the Masthead is a monster, and that you're better off without it. Looking forward to the reports of your first sail!!!

Indeed, it didnt take me long before I cut the entire bottom nav section off, leaving only the masthead light, a much better compromise and a lot less like the tuglight it depicted before.
He could use this time to upgrade to an LED masthead light. Of course, now he's going to have to run the nav lights down low if wanting to get rid of the whole 9 yards above. Where I once also liked the Davis version, I've now read sevearl comments on premature failures if left out. Seems the beast aint exactly as waterproof as it should be. Dont know anyone personally that has put the perm version up yet, however.

DUDE, He just bought a boat...Let him sail it before he dishes out any more dough.-heh
Seriously, though. I make little LED doohickeys all the time to use on the stage. They cost pennies. Whenever I look at the "Nautical LEDs" they're three arms and two legs. I'm in the wrong business.

I have the permanent version up on my mast head, it is totally waterproof, greased o-ring. Two years no problems.
the masthead LED's are way over priced, not worth the money unless you have it to burn........

Lord, just last spring you were talking about needing to put it up as a perm solution for this summer. Whar's the two years coming from? Last I knew, you had the temp light - I think you mentioned finally throwing it up for full time. You had the mast down since putting it in this spring? For sure, it's cheaper than the normal LEDs. You have a shot of your mounting job? Would be interested in seeing it. For sure, this light draws a lot less than the stocker. Post a shot of how you mounted it. Know you probably ditched that bracket that came with it.

Yes. I didn't mention that it took about two hours to get the masthead light off. The screws were jammed up really bad and I could only get an 1/16 of a turn at a time!
I think I am just going to leave it off until next spring.
