Saw this listed by Lanier Marine Liquidators -- 88 wing keel, Florida boat, no engine or trailer or mention of sails.
It's worth following the link just to see the most barnacled-over bottom in the history of boats.
Interior looks to be a shambles but I'm sure after you took care of the headliner it would make a world of difference!

Quick Someone call Brandon he may want to get back in to a F235. A very sad case but if it can be had cheaper, it would make a great parts boat or fixer upper.

aaaaa, NOOOOO! I sure hope it doesnt get picked over for parts and scrapped.

2900 seems to me a steal. It looks as though elbow grease alone could double it's worth.
If I lived nearby I would buy it for sure.

With 15 acres of idle boats, I am sure you could convince them to wait till the spring if they had your money. Problem is what is under all those barnacles.

They have a Catalina 22 project boat with a fin. Install the fin with a lead bulb & get rid of my wing.

I think the interior wood looks better than the fin that sold over $7K. With elbow grease, you would have a new boat.

Ahhhh - what to do with our spare time.

That's 100 less than I got my boat for and I had an engine. Shows what you could do before this idiotic site came into existence. heh...

Actually, I have to agree with David here, especially if the sails and rigging can be found. I'm sure they would include the motor for a bit more which might be worth it if in salvageable condition.

Everything else is just a serious pressure washing and scraping away from not that bad. Every clown in here will have to deal with the liner, and that's already half down.

Thing is, bottom jobs and headliners are WHENs, not IFs. And really sails are too. I think that boat is definitely worth fixing.
Used and usable small outboards also pop up on craigslist or wherever for under $500.
If you are doing your own work, for under $6K and a winter's worth of piddling and elbow grease you could probably have her looking good and ready to sail this spring.
If I was closer I'd be very tempted. I have a 285 but have been thinking more and more about the smaller sister because we are probably going to be moving inland in a few years.

I have read a few reviews about this brokerage. I am pretty skeptical by nature, but now I am more so. Still, I may drive down in the next couple of weeks to see if it can be made ship shape again. ....proabably a fools erand!

After seeing this string of posts I had to comment. My wife and I are the lucky souls that purchased this boat. I have to tell you it cleaned up really nice. It had 3 sails with it (main, Genoa and jib). The structure is in good shape, and we have had it out a few times since we bought it.

It will be a work in progress on the interior (as you would expect, we ripped the liners out), but look forward to taking a lot of the great suggestions made on the forums to getting the boat back in shape!

Congratulations on the great find, Paul! Paul DID get a great deal with Hull 243, now on Lake Norman outside of Charlotte, NC. At one point, there were nearly 12 First 235 on Lake Norman though now a fraction of that number.

See 243 below, back on the water, albeit fresh this time around. Paul's next big upgrade needs to be a new First 235 main for that beast!
