It has been for sale for awhile actually, I think he said he was looking to move up to a bigger boat, but that if it didn't sell he wouldn't be unhappy to hold on to it. _________________ Tony

". . . with the feel of a much bigger boat!" Why do brokers always write in this line with their advertisements? I've been on much bigger boats, and smaller boats too; I find that a boat always "feels" its size, and our F235 is 23' - no more no less. As our larger F285 cousins have found, if you truly want the feel of a larger boat, get a larger boat!
Cheers,

I have been on a 23' boat that didn't have near the width or freeboard that our baby ben's have. My santana 23 for example felt like a much smaller boat. _________________ '88 - Wing - Hull #140 |

OK, taking this chat in another direction - for a minute - I admire the towable jib cars the Witch has.
It appears that Ian may have customize the original cars, as it appears to be those big hunks of aluminum.
Any ideas exactly how he did this?
Removed the spring pin and replaced with .............?
And how did he modify the front of the car? _________________ Jeannette

Usually all you need to do is pull up the pin and attach the line or bungee to the pin shaft. The line keeps the pin from retracting. _________________ Paul and Lynn Mayeski

I put the boat up for sale in Nov, not really expecting anything to happen until at least spring. The average sale in the NW is 6-12 months. We 're ready to sell at a good price, but we don't have to move her since we'll be selling, then moving up a size.
A previous owner upgraded the Amiot traveller to a Harken, a very worthwhile improvement. He recycled the Amiot blocks and fit them to the front of the jib tracks since they are compatible, then removed the plunger/pin in the cars. It's not as low friction as ball bearing, but for the loads it works very well and I use them all the time.
PS Thanks for the compliment, Neil. She has her signs of use and is no "Traveller", but most boats of the same vintage locally are in much worse shape. _________________ Ian #079 1987 Fin |

After a 2-3 year plan somehow turned into exactly 6 years, 'Witch' has now passed into new hands. At the moment, she'll be staying at the same club, in the same slip, and possibly with the same name, so I suppose this is a little like breaking up with someone you've been dating at work. Hard to see such a trouble free little boat go, but I hope the new owner Marek will keep the forum up to date. _________________ Ian #079 1987 Fin

Congratulations on the sale, I'm hoping to bump into another 235 in the gulf islands this summer. Today was just beautiful, up to Saltspring and into Ganges for lunch, motored back in just over 2 hours at twilight. _________________ Tony
