Hello Folks,

I have been quietly watching the postings and have a severe case of 235 Envy. I live in New Brunswick Canada and I am wondering if it is possible to get a 235: on the road, taxes in, for 10000 canadian. Obviously a trailer is needed and a later model in good shape with a fin keel would be ideal. I am sailing in a river system and need to point as high in to the wind as possible.

I see some postings with boats for sale on the south eastern coast is anyone willing to work something out with me or am I smoking a pipe dream.

Any support, introductions, etc... is greatly appreciated!!!

Hi Mark,
I purchased mine last year and had it shipped to my local marina from the states for a grand total just under 10000 canadian. (I then spent 4K on a brand new trailer.)
No regrets.

So, yes, I would say it is very possible.

Thanks David, it looks like it may be possible. 10K is my limit so I guess it's time to make some offers and see waht happens. I wish the dollar was back at 1.20 to US currency.

Call up my broker and start the process. My 1992 fin is for sale with double axle trailer. See post in this forum.

I have asked my local broker to contact yours. If I can get the boat delivered and landed up here, Mark will be a very happy sailer.

What is with all the brokers talking? Call each other. Make a friendly deal and arrangements for shipping. Done deal.

For a boat this size and that well documented I think P to P business will be fine or? Cheaper as well. We are not talking about a First 50.

Griffin has her listed with a broker for some reason of personal preference. I have no issue with that as long as the brokers complete due diligence. The boat is going across the boarder and being delivered a long distance. The brokers will just split the commission so there are no additional cost to Griffin on the transaction. The real challenge is cost effective delivery which I hope the brokers can add value and reduce the cost with good contacts.

hopefully a new 235 owner
Mark

I'm listed with a broker as my boat is 1.5 hours away from my home and I work nights so I don't want to have tons of phone calls and question answering sessions. I also don't want to drive 1.5 hours to show the boat to someone who is only browsing. This is why I use a local broker at my Marina. As I have a contract with him to sell the boat, I send any potential buyers to him. Everyone's preference and time varys.

I also used Andrews Trucking when I moved our previous boat, a 39 foot Freedom Yachts Schooner from Maine to Ontario in 2005. They were excellent in service and in price.
