oh ok.. boat is going to columbus OH :) dyslexia strikes... guess i got that part mixed up. That will be a drive. with the boat probably 10 hours or better. Safe journey!!

My brother moved to columbus OH a couple years ago.. he and his wife bought one of those 1900 historic houses and have been restoring it... I would much rather be working on a boat.. 4 stories of antique house is a lot of work.. and a lot to heat and cool. He got suckered into buying it when it was offered for a really low low price..

Sorry to see you parting with Lokahi - I'm sure it's not easy seeing her go. On the bright side, Marphinie is in Columbus (Hoover Reservoir) and looking forward to Lokahi settling in our area! Avalon several years ago used to call this home, but she sold and moved to Texas, I think.

If you would like, pass on my contact info to Lokahi's new owner - I would be glad to help Lokahi get situated, if that would be helpful.

Thanks. Yea, we'll miss the little boat, but glad a new owner will be enjoying her.

I'll pass your contact info to the new owner. The boat will end up in Alum Creek Sailing Assoc. I'll be driving up in a couple weeks.

On a side note, it looks like we'll soon be getting a Flying Scot to race on Lake Norman and Lake Keowee. It'll be fun to get back in to one design racing.

Flying Scot? Lordy, that's ALMOST as heavy as the First 235! heh.... What you loons need is a Lightning. The class seems to really be building and what cool boats with some history and spunk. I've always loved the lines. There are now five or six that sail out of Carolina Yacht Club. The ole Flying Scot. No serious, congratulations on staying wet and getting out there. Although dont know why you didnt just leave Lokahi at Lake Norman and take her to the coast when the mood hit. That was a great F235.

Yea, it's certainly not the lightest thing out there...

But the class is quite competitive (big fleet on Lake Norman) and it fits our family needs right now. Taking the F235 to the coast was a lot of fun, but also a bit of work and time. With the Flying Scot we can do some weekend regattas in the surrounding states and not have then turn into a four-day road trip.

Jon, which 40.7 are you racing with?

If you want a fun and competitive trailorable daysailor. You might want to take a ride on a Thistle. It will run circles around a Flying Scot. They have a hugh following. This is a very strong fleet with allot of history.

Kevin, you are correct about the stable part. The Thistle is like a canoe when the board is up. The Scot is a nice boat with a big following. It is a much heavier boat that would not require the crew like a Thistle would. Especially in a strong breeze. You will have allot of fun. The main thing is you are still sailing.

true, true, i started sailing on thistle hull #234 as well as the
to lovely for words atlantics'. the thistles were very tender for my
10 year old self, but the plumb bow spoke to me when i first set eyes on my
235.
snowboarded for the last day this past friday at mt. snow in vt. now it is full
on get the 235 back on her mooring and maybe pick up a cool quad fish
surfboard in case we get any waves on the east coast soon.
its all about the h20, frozen, liquid...even steam can be nice.
