His "buy now price" of 7K looks like a pretty good deal. No trailer though. That kinda limits the customers a little doesn't it? The boat looks like its been kept up pretty good. _________________ Brad Leslie

Sad to sell it, but we just are not using to boat. The water is too far away. Time for someone else to enjoy it. _________________ Liberty Edition #22 Hull #299

Michael,
I would, but it's winter...the boat is already on the trailer for the season. If you still need one come spring...try me again. Especially if it's for someone on Lake Ontario!! _________________ ~Frodo

Well, I am bidding on 'er.
I would pull the trigger on the 'buy it now' button but I'm still trying to coordinate a trailer or transport.
I'm waiting to hear back from Andrews. And I spoke with a guy in Texas who has a new galv. double axle trailer with surge brakes on one axle, delivered, for 3000. which sounds pretty good?
I am also a bit nervous about getting her over the border. If anyone has any words of wisdom on that front, i.e. paperwork etc. please advise.
I am dreaming of the day..
It will be quite a step up from my little mirror dinghy and my 8ft windsurf boards! Then again, I'm used to sailing in 30+ knots and 10+ ft seas but that's with a rudderless planing hull that you steer with your feet at speeds up to 40kts! I dont think the F235 will slide down the wave quite the same.heh.
Cheers,
Dave |

I suggest you contact Ian McPherson (Witch of Endor). He bought his F235 in the US and drove it to Canada. _________________ Boudewijn

Looks like this lady Liberty is coming to Canada!
Just spoke with Mike about getting her onto Andrew's truck next wednesday for the trip to her new home on Lake Simcoe, Beaverton, Ontario.
I've been reading through the forum posts for the past week or so, lots of reading/information!. You all sound like a wonderful group of friendly and very experienced sailors and I am looking forward to getting to know what it means to be a part of the Beneteau First 235 family.
Cheers,
Dave |

Yes it is very good idea to check the forum. Kelly has done an excellent job. For example, we were missing the diffuser for our Origo stove. A few years back they were available for free, but since then the distributors have changed. But I managed to track down the supplier and just today got mine for free. So the forum saved me about $60.00 with one query. Enjoy the Liberty. |

Congrats to Dave on the purchase of the boat. It's sad to say but it's time for me to go. Beyond 235's being excellent, this has been an excellent community. You folks have been great and having spoken with Dave on the phone, I leave the boat in good hands.

I just sold my jeanneau tonic 23 to a guy from canada with no
problems. He came down to Delaware and picked up the boat.He called me the next
day and reported
no issues crossing the border.
I just purchased a Beneteau First210 after deciding for single handed
sailing this was the boat for me.I came mighty close to buying a
First235 however I received a email from somebody going through a nasty
devorce and this First 210 was a steal.

Thought I'd relay the details of the purchase for future reference by people thinking about making a similar transaction.
It seemed kinda funny buying a 7000 dollar boat on ebay. but the deal is done and it went quite smoothly actually. Michael and I decided to split the fees associated with the paypal payment.. nothing like putting a 23 foot sailboat on your credit card!!
Andrews' Trucking is a very good company to deal with! (hope I'm not speaking too soon.) They make it very easy to bring a boat up from the US into Canada. Transport costs are 1800 for the 1000 mile journey. The customs broker was 200 in fees. Duty and taxes added another 15% (1050.00) oh, and I'll have to put her on a cradle for the winter @ 950.00
I'm having a custom trailer built in the spring.
So far, I'm 11,000.00 into it. but can you put a price on a dream?!
If all goes well, Michael will be overseeing her being loaded onto the truck on Wednesday and then it will be dropped off at the marina 2km down the road from me on Friday morning!!
Thanks to Michael for being so great and easy to deal with and the forum members who contacted me with help and advice and a big cheers to Kelly for the forum in general! But most of all, thanks to Jon for inviting me to the LOCCR. heh.
