I pains my heart, but my First 235 is for sale. With two small boys and hopefully another one coming, the boat is getting too small for us. But the times we have had with her... No time for sentiment though, here are the specifics:
* Built in 1993
* We have had a new mastfoot and a mast-raising and lowering system custom made last year . You can now raise and lower the mast by yourself. It also has a support for the mast on the stern which can be used during transport.
* The wash basin and the water tab have been replaced last year.
* Two years ago we have replaced the depth meter
* she has a swing keel
* The keelbolt has also been replaced two years ago.
* The sails are in good condition
* Three new layers of antifouling have been painted on two months ago as well as a new waterline
* She comes with a double axled trailer which is also in good condition (a tiny bit of shallow rust in one place). It has been through a thourough check last year.
* The motor was checked last year and has been indoors every winter.
* besides the odd-jobs that always pop up when you have your own boat she is in very good condition.
* Location is Naarden, The Netherlands (by the Markermeer)
askingprice is 19.950 euro including the trailer.

I'm not sure I see the logic in that, but at today's conversion rates it's only $26.000 in US dollars. |

It would be cool to have a swing keel 235 here. I bet it's a high pointer with the deeper draft on the swing keel.

... a whole lot more 'trailerable' too: easier ramp-launching/retrieval and lower COG for towing too. I bet a swing-keel F235 would fetch ~$3K more than a fin here, if it was known to point better. I doubt we'll ever know. It would be nice to be able to haul up the fin on a run too (in appropriate conditions).

Wow. You really think so? The irony on this is that most of the boats in the US that offer these three options, the wing gets the most money and hits as it offers shallow draft and far less maintenance issues than a swing keel. But it's not quite as good upwind.
I dont find that many buying the First 235 to race, really, based on all the emails I've gotten over the years. Besides the upwind aspect, the swing is the ultimate ease for trailering although personally I'd take a wing between wing/swing if in salt water. The last thing I'd want to mess with is problematic parts that WILL need replacement.
At least the F235 swings are worm roller and not cable driven. But if you go in Beneteau archives, you see some swing parts problems/issues.
For a total cruiser beast like the C25, the wing is a coveted option and fetches the highest price. But then, comparing the F235 to a C25 makes me a little queasy....heh

Me too. I can't believe you mentioned both in the same sentence with out more than 2 words in between them. That makes me about a nauseous as hearing people talk about putting McGregor parts on their F235. Oops, now I did it too. EEEWWW! I'll shut up now.
