Sad to say it's time to sell. I'll be posting more photos this weekend.

As you can see, the bottom of the boat has been completely restored. It was stripped back to the gelcoat and is blister free. 3 layers of barrier coat were applied. The keel was stripped, cleaned, faired and barrier coated 3 times. Petit epoxy antifouling paint ($220/gallon) will be applied on Friday.

All new seacocks have been installed in conjuntion with flush thru hulls.

The boat comes with:
8 HP Yamaha outboard - Serviced June 06 with new impeller and pull cord - In storage since
Bar-B-Q Grill - Small round type :)
Water pump for sink
Wash down pump and tank in cockpit
Horizon Main and Jib
Working Jib
CDI Furler
2 Anchors - one alu fortress
VHF
Depth - Standard Horizon with NEW transducer
Flush thru hulls

I have 2 new opening lewmar ports with screens. The plan was to install one in the aft cabin Friday, and sell the other here for $150.

The price for the boat is $9500. The boat is in Dahlgren, Virginia.

Flatbed transportation can be arranged.

Hi Michael,

I had a gent come down to look at my 235 for sale, Quantum, last weekend.

He seemed like a serious buyer, liked the design of the boat, but didn't like Quantum. Appropriately so, I might add, as she needs lots of work, many projects, etc.

However, your boat looks to be in good shape so I took the "liberty" of sending your info up to him. He is in Canada and this would require a transport up there, but I suggested he see about renting a trailer for the trip.

Me too..I have 'keel envy'........I think I am going to have to bite the bullet this winter and strip my hull right back and get rid of all the old bottom paint...the bottom of my boat is starting to look like a badly iced cake !!

That's one of those jobs where, if I can afford it, I may just pay someone to soda blast / soy strip it for me !

Splashed the boat on Friday and moved it to Colonial Beach Saturday. It's not for sale anymore!

Easily got up to 7+ knots with no problem. Actually the most wind I had was maybe 10. I guess the super slick bottom, flush thru hulls, and Petit Ultima SR made all the difference. Actually I noticed the Petit paint left a semi-gloss finish. The Micron CSC I used on the rudder as an experiment looks dull and chalky. The outboard sounded funny, but then I realized I was able to attain 4 knots with it going at idle speed, 6 knots just opening it up a bit. In the past life, I had to go full throttle to get up to six. All I can say is that outboards are loud at idle. Oh well, I only need it to dock.

Well, congratulations on keeping your boat, Michael.

So I take it you like the performance now the bottom has been redone, is that why you decided to keep her?

I just had Quantum Soda-Blasted this week. Quite an operation. They bagged up the entire surface to be stripped. A bit messy during the procedure. I couldn't tell they were there when they were done. ...,'cept a bare bottom awaiting epoxy barrier coat. They couldn't get the POR-15 off the keel. Quite a testament to that product.

Actually it is my almost 3 year old son that decided we should keep the boat. I was reluctantly showing the boat a few weeks ago and I brought him along. He had never been on the boat but he really had a blast. He kept saying he wanted to sleep on the boat. At that point I decided with all the work I put in, and the adventure and memories we would have, that I should keep the boat.

The great thing is that my father-in-law lives in Colonial Beach less than a mile from where the boat now is. He secured a slip and will check on the boat after bad storms, etc. Couldn't be better.

The big plan though is to get to the boat on Firdays at 2, sail the afternoon, enjoy the beach and playground, then sleep over. Saturdays we'll do a morning sail and then head for home. Keep it short and sweet.

I did mention that I got great performance on the first sail. I seem to recall the GPS flashing almost 9 knots at one point, but I am a little suspect. The boat just seemed very quick.........then I rememebered.

I had actually made a slight hull modification that may be contributing to performance. I had been reading about newer designs with a slight reverse rocker at the stern. After filling the keel, I had some extra west fairing epoxy. Well I took that epoxy and put a reverse rocker on the boat, essentially straightening out the lines which resulted in a thicker transom joint, not that it would ad strength. You could say this is an addative modification in that I have added material to the hull that can be sanded off.

I did notice my stern wake seemed smoother. From what I have read, a reverse rocker is as if the water line length is longer.

So does it work? Who knows? Can it hurt? I can't see how it could have an adverse effect on the boat unless it slowed it down. I had planned on thru bolting the transom deck joint and using the reverse rocker to hide the screw heads to avoid countersinking into the actual hull. I never did do the bolting, but maybe at next haul out I may.

Next time I'm out I'll ckeck wind speed vs knots, to see if I am getting a boost.

No pictures. It's essntially a slight concavity the length of the transom waterline. It fades out to either side, with it being most pronounced in front of the rudder. It is about 6 inches wide..................... I just couldn't let all that expensive epoxy to go to waste!
