This is a first, at least as far as I remember... Never seen a First 235 in HAWAII before. Wondering how it got there. I think this is a Challenge for ole Ash to SAIL HER BACK!
Actually, at over $15K, it's not exactly in the deal territory, and this for a wing with little exterior mods (and with a 5hp). The inside is like a mini-palace though, almost as if someone was attempting to live the Islands Dream in a little 21ft Middle America Pillow Water Roost.

In fairness, they did have a shot of the cockpit but it didnt reveal too much. Too bad the shots werent a bit larger, too. It doesnt have ST winches and appears to still retain the useless stock extension.

If they knock $10K off, I could just go there and jump start my world cruise.
I am at a Motel 6 in Fort Stockton TX trailering my Stiletto 27 to San Antonio to the new owner. I can even access the wireless link from the adjacent motel... nothing like a souped up external antenna.
This is the first time I have trailered this far in one go and I find this southern route pretty flat and easy. Trailering from the East Coast now doesn't seem too bad.
Happy new Year! _________________ F235 #186 Pegasus

Not only does she have the original useless extension, but the original sails... Owned by the same guy since 1987, sailed twice a month and never raced, and absolutely pristine. And while she was over priced, we bought her anyway! After all, I think she really IS the only 235 in the islands.
We're already shopping for new sails, undecided on the self tailers. Never had a boat this size before so we'll sail her for a while and see as far as upgrades go. |

welcome to the madhouse.
We hope (make that "know") that you'll have lots of fun in her. Any thoughts on a name yet or do you want to sail around a bit first and find out what jumps out at you (namewise). _________________ Logs, Windjana wk #264

Her current name is "Papillon". My husband wants to name her "Ben"; we'll see if laziness overcomes our intentions, but neither one of is big on butterflies. We picked her up on Sunday, with 15 knots of wind and 4-6 foot swells. She surfs down-wind like a dream, but we're delaying our opinion of upwind performance until we get new sails- her main has a huge belly, and it's hard to flatten her existing jib.
But so far, we love her! |

Unfortunately, while our 235 was a great play boat while we lived on our 41 foot Coronado, since we sold the Coronado and moved to shore, "Ben" is just too small for inter-island cruising. 1987 wing keel, with new in the last year: main, jib, spinnaker, self-tailers, boom kicker, standing rigging, running rigging, mast base, mast wiring and VHF. Listed for $14,800, but way negotiable.

The title of the thread still says (SOLD) in it. Lets have this corrected. Interesting full circle on a purchase and a sale. I wonder what the average turn around on a 235 is? So far our boat average keep time is 3 seasons on the past two we have owned. We (still) think we have found a design that is a keeper for longer term with plans on buying a second 235 for the kids when they get to double digits in age when space becomes scarcer (or to race girls against boys to keep an adult near the controls). _________________ Ed Mika
