Current high bidder is an autoengine rebuilder - may be after the keel too? There may be LOTS of F235 parts that current F235 owners might need - they should perhaps email whoever is the highest bidder onj the last day of the auction to offer to buy certain bits he may not want.

I don't know if it would be worth bidding on..
say i bid on it.. and got it for 200 dollars
then add in 282 dollars to load it on my trailer.
then add in 300 dollars in gas to go get it.. + food etc.... and you have a7882 dollar + boat.. Lots of dings there... you could probably resell the pulpit and push pits .. but they look gone or damaged. there are some stantions.. the boom is good.. It might be worth it if it was next door. allso the 282 loading fee kinda bites... little excessive.

looks like the st winches are gone ... someone has already been picking over this boat.. bet most of the blocks and tackle are gone also.

hmmm ...
wonder why my 87 has them?

regardless if you look at the pictures the only winch you can see is the on cabin top one.. the mast is laid down and goes through the space the port one should be in.

the only winch I can't see is the starboard cabintop, & that's only because of the shadow. I would guess that if you have a early 235 with selftailers they were add on's by previous owners. wish I had them, west marine wants $599 each for the 16 Lewmar's

ha! jonster is correct.. the winches are there and they don't look like they are self tailers.....
damn... this is going to swell his head....
lol oh well
a little more can't hurt to much..

maybe the ST winches were a upgrade option.. i know that the original owner of sea puppy would have bought all the upgrades he could have... he was serious racing guy. If it was a performance enhancement he would have gotten it.

Ive seen those ST winches spread over all the years but it seems they were an option at times. Every now and then, you see something like an 89 with regular winches even though most seemed to have the ST. They are definitely a nice upgrade over the regular winches, especially if you singlehand.

I shopped and shopped while saving my pennies. The lowest price I found was pyacht.com who will sell you Lewmar 16STs for $375, Harken STs for $385.
A pair of Lewmars were delivered last week. Now can anybody tell me how to get those old Barlows off of there? They don't have have split retaining ring like the Lewmars.

Back to the matter at hand.

I agree with the Loon. The boat is not beyond repair. With a lot of elbow grease, and about $2500-3500, it would be a shiny new(ish) looking toy for the right person. My biggest concern would be the Structural integrity of the hull. If she's solid, she's worth something. If she can be had for less than $1000, I think she'd be worth it. Especially if you're interested in making a vehichle like the soon be relaunched Pi-Zilla.

All that said, I'm not bidding on her.

Assuming you have said "T&T", New mast, Rigging, One of those Kick-up rudders, Sails (although there are two inside that are good, and the other two may be repairable), some bottom paint, and Exterior hardware may run you $3k plus or minus (depending on the sails). Me no Savvy-Savvy the exterior paint, so $?.

As to the Towing/Trailer...I have offered my trailer to use up here, so has Jon, I would hope that one of you Southerners would do the same for a F235 Newbie. The boat isn't huge, it will fit comfortably in a driveway, or better yet in a Barn where it could be worked on.

Now the interior is a different story. As there are no pics, I Imagine the worst. But consider...removing the Wood is not hard (I did some removal to get the Headliner off in 4-Play), Re-finishing may go either way, If the Head and Galley are intact, and the cushions are washable...She could be sailable for less than you think.

The guy who just bought my mother's Privateer 35 is a 22 year old Painter. He has skills, but not much Dough. He plans on getting her sailable next spring (Caulk, and a little electrical work), making the 1000+ mile trip to Michigan (yes 1000+ miles, if you're sailing), and living on the boat while he does a two year complete rehab. He'll have his dream boat, and show a financial gain at the end of that time.

The person who buys this boat will have a much less valuable boat at the end, but it won't take more than a couple of months to do a complete re-hab.

So I repeat...If this is the type of boat that you REALLY, REALLY want, and you have the time, This boat can be saved. Massive Ducat saved?...maybe not, but an affordable project for the right person?...Absolutely.

But what do I know?

Bids are flying in - it's up to a whopping $177.50 now - that's about half the cost of just one of the stern rails!
The auction is ending on Saturday morning (7AM PDT).
This autorebuilder guy is keeping just ahead of new bidders - I wonder what his top dollar amount is???

OK - what do you all guess it'll finally sell for?
