In-laws boat - a 1989 which they have owned since 1991. Out of the water the last two years, sailed 2x in 2002 (when I moved back to NY and took "posession",) prior to that in storage 3 years after they had a "bad" experience in a storm while on thier first trip (1999.) Boat is in ok condition, Interior was damaged due to window leak while in storage (cushions and such are good, the wood just has a "tub ring" where the water sat prior to being pumped out and sealed properly.) Rigging/sails relatively new, replaced after a storm took down the rig circa 1998 - very little time on the boat since. Has a Mercury 9.9 with very low hours -runs well, although will occasionally vapor lock. Hull is solid, no bubbles or blisters or soft spots that I can find. Wing keel, new rudder bracket JUST purchased new from Beneteau (was planning on putting her back in up until last week.) Also removed windows with intent to replace a few weeks ago, have not had them cut yet. Boat is fully outfitted as a day sailor, radio worked when put up 2 years ago, engine and battery (new, at the time) properly stored. Depth finder and knot meter were intermittent, but are there. Boat probably has 30hrs of use in last 14 years, exclusively on the Long Island Sound (Larchmont, NY.) In storage at Barron's Boat Yard on City Island. Looking for $4k, any interest? Will listen to offers, next step is charitable donation... |

What about selling it on ebay? There have been at least 3 F235 sales on ebay this year.
Does it have a trailer? _________________ Neil Quigley

The whole thing crescendos from time to time. It's been quiet for a while. We don't usually get this kind of chaos until the middle of winter. :-)
And they'll be happy to point out that I cause my fair share of the ruckus... _________________ Ex-235 Owner

Glad there is interest, she is a solid boat with a lot of potential, I just don't have the time and the kids are too young to join me for a few years. I will try to call y'all who have expressed interest asap, but it may not be until Friday. Anyone near Barron's on City Island is welcome to check her out - she is called M2=KE and is toward the water on the right side of the yard. The key to the cabin is in the Lazerette... The sails, cushions and assorted stuff is at home, the motor is in storage at the yard. Tell John Barron you are looking at the boat, he knows it is for sale. |

Jim, you want another F235 for yourself (did you keep the other one?), or are you looking to turn it around via your boat refurbish/broker business? I'd rather see this boat go to an excited new owner that might not be able to afford a big time price increase.

Uhhhhhh............
On the other hand having the boat restored to her original, beautiful state thus allowing someone who who doesn't want to do that kind of work find a boat that they will be able to get on the water and enjoy the season is a good thing, too.
Isn't this something for the owner of the boat to decide?
I've woven my spell of protection around me, so blast away :-) |

You'ld argue about a coin toss with me, Suze. IF you think taking a great deal F235 and buying it for an investment and jacking the price to the teens is better than having a new owner who cant normally afford a 13k 23ft craft get the boat of his or her dreams, then not much I can say. Actually it's not my idea of what this "For Sale" forum is about, especially the boat is not in dire need of repair anyway. Using this as a place to find a deal on a boat and make some quick ducats is down on my list for the service this forum provides.
It's obviously up to the seller and I never said otherwise. On the other hand, I dont mind pointing out the potential differerences from a first time owner getting a boat at a bargain and someone looking to make a few ducats on a resale. In my view, most new owners get excited by a purchase and end up doing a large amount of the restoration on their own, this itself a learning process.
This forum is not meant to be a place for dealers to peruse, looking for deal boats to resell. On the other hand, if Jim is looking for a boat to charter, it might be a good way to expose more sailors to the F235.
Ultimately, it's up to the seller and I dont blame him for going for the best price. Seemed to me, this seller is looking to provide someone a great deal. In my view, I would like to see it go to a new owner that might not otherwise have the opportunity to own a boat like this, someone that loves the F235, not for it's potential profit margin, but as a boat to cherish.

What ever happened to this boat? It is amazing that an ad turned into a scrap-fest.
Here flip the dime. It has the Bluenose on it.
