I will rent you my trailer very reasonable. I pulled mine from MN to KY without any trouble. You need a 3/4 ton truck though. _________________ Brad Leslie

Hey, I should sell my boat and buy this one in Clearwater. Its a six hour drive from my house to the boat in KY. Its a $49, 2 hour flight on allegient air to clearwater for me........
Repairs would be a little more complicated though..... _________________ Brad Leslie

Believe it or not Jon, I toyed with the idea of pulling out the wheel and using the original tiller that came with the boat.
Actually wouldn't have been that difficult.
Sure would make more room in the cockpit.

Converting to a tiller is quite simple with the 285's. It is nice to have the option. Having had both, and tillers on Thistles and Atlantics, I am really enjoying the wheel on the 285.
It is a bit tight to get by though. Thinking about one of the Lewmar folding wheels. Maybe. _________________ Mark

i like the wheel.
before you spring for the lewmar folding wheel, you might try this. when you are lounging in the cockpit, spin the big nut off the wheel and remove the wheel. put the big nut back on the shaft for safe-keeping. take the wheel and set the edge of it in the drain slot at the aft end of the port cockpit seat. _________________ Mike Hayden

I will try that spot. I have removed the wheel in evening to make lounging in the cockpit more comfortable but have had more than a few daymares about losing it over board! _________________ Brad Leslie

I have done that Mike and it is a nice option at anchor, but to get my 78 year
old Dad to and from the helm underway, the fold would be nice. He
loves to drive. _________________ Mark

Could be a good deal, but the pictures were taken way back in Feb. 2009
so it makes one wonder.
I would guess $2000+ to truck it up north? _________________ Mark
