Man I would love to make the move up and that boat looks great from the posting. The price is tempting also.
I guess, I'm old enough that my wants won't hurt me, at least thats what my Dad used to tell me.
I am down to three boats now....... maybe in a couple of years....... _________________ Brad Leslie

Has anyone seen this 285 up close or heard any behind the scenes info?
What do you all think about the asking price and value in this economy?
I am getting the itch. _________________ Mark

it seems to be a standard 285, although i see a few things that don't appear to standard based on my limited experience.
the price seems more than fair, specially since it is the asking price and there is probably room for negotiating even lower. only a close in inspection would reveal the real fit and finish but if it is in better than average shape that is a real good price. i paid a lot more for mine but it was in near bristol condition.
i haven't seen the boat up close and don't know anything about it except for what is in the ad. but if you have a genuine interest and the boat is reasonably accessible i could go take a look when going to/from mine. it's the same general area.
the ad does say "sale pending" however. _________________ Mike Hayden

Wow Mike -
It would be really wonderful for you to have a look if the boat is not
way out of your way.
I am going to PM you.

hi all - just wanted to pass along that with some above and beyond excellent recon work from First 285 toastmaster Mike, and a irresponsible dent in the old bank account, 285 hull # 95 currently known as "Notreve" has happily
relocated to the CT. coast and is bobbing on our mooring as I type.
All we need now to complete the happy first family is a 32s5!
Thanks again to Mike for his inspiration and knowledge. _________________ Mark

thanks Brad, take your time and i am sure the right 285 will come along.
happy to report that we just came back from checking on the 285 for the first time in a week and it was just as i had left it, nice and dry.
weather will clear tomorrow and we have a nice sail day planned.
best,
