The owner of this boat is not on this forum so you will need to call the number above. This boat was posted by someone that noticed it. Give the guy a call and let us know how it went.

This was posted awhile ago. Perhaps Pastor Tom could fire a few more shots. IT would have to be a nice example at that price.

If any of you guys contact the owner or (better still, go and see the boat) could you find out the boat's current name (if there is one) and her BEY number for our database and tell me your results?
Thanks

Well I took the plunge a bought this boat. Should take delivery in a couple of weeks. The biggest issue I saw was the bottom paint. It looks like a pretty daunting task so I'll probably hire it out. If anyone has some good suggestions on a do it yourself approach I'd be very interested. My main concern is managing the hull for access to the bottom of the keel and under the bunks and in the stripping method. This is quite a change for me, my last boat was a compac 19. No name yet.
The hull ID is BEY1A360D990. Does that mean it is hull #360? Looking forward to being part of the forum.

Hugh, if I remeber right the bottom paint on that boat when I looked at it was peeling pretty badly. I think a pressure washer should remove most of it. Soy Strip will take the rest off easily. Search the forum and web for Soy Strip, environmentally friendly stripper, its from Framar chemical and works quite well. Others here will offer solutions on painting under the bunks. That boat has a really nice trailer...towing should be a breeze!

Hugh, man I cant believe you finally got an F235! I see ole Hugh in his Compac 19 out quite often and have been meaning to hook up to take him for a spin. He's been interested in the F235 for awhile. Glad to see you took the plunge for real.

Looks like a nice boat and I have to agree with Griff, that's one of my favorite trailer designs for the WK F235.

Find out from the previous owner exactly what bottom paint was on there, which helps you decide how you handle handle the next paint (stripping will render this a moot point, however). People have used various things to strip from environmentally safe to full on chemical hell. There are some threads on each here. Try a search with the "all terms" box checked. You get an interesting variety of recs.

I painted the bottom of my F235 while on the trailer using a car jack to lift up the boat to get under the bunks and wing. Worked ok. I would seriously recommend putting multiple coats on the wing, entry point of bow, and rudder. See a shot of the painting going on here with jack in view lifting off front bunks. Your longer bunks will be a bit different.

Hull #360 was already in the directory as Petit Bateau but I updated the entry to your name. And we'll surely have better pics of the beast soon! http://www.beneteau235.com/f235_database.htm

Welcome to the beneteau235.com forums!

Congratulations, Hugh! Welcome to the F235 community! There have to be bunch of interesting compass-related/nautical/literary/etc boat names that could be derived from your hull number (apart 'Anderson Cooper 360').
Good Luck.

Neil, interesting idea of playing off the 360 somehow with a name. Thanks for the suggestion.

Certainly don't want to see that in French ... "fritures de liberté" - could be misread (perhaps with a little dyslexia) as Freedom Fruits - not good!

How about 'Compass Rose' ?

Would be particularly appropriate if your significant other was called 'Rose' !!

Heh... Well, naming a boat is so personal. Somehow, these threads always get going and we get to see a slew of names, half of which leave one groaning. That is, unless they are humorous and tongue-in-cheek...these offer some Respite, which, strangely enough, was Hugh's old boat's name. heh.

I dont think ole Hugh's talking to me anymore as I was supposed to give him a ride aboard abstrait about two years ago, when he was first interested in an F235. See what procrastination does? heh. I think he made the right call. That Compac 19, though a cute little boat, is perhaps one of the slowest craft known to man. Poor Hugh was close to putting a bullet in his own head several times due to this issue.

I like that name, actually. Maybe this boat is Hugh's Second Respite (heh, or Second Breakfast if he's a LOOR fan), or Long Respite ... Another Respite ... idunno ... just plain Respite is pretty good. Babel Fish didn't offer a French translation for that name though - I wonder why - the French workforce seems to spend a lot of time 'on break'.

Kelly, I'm still speaking. I know how folks get busy, including me. Thanks to all for the name suggestions, keep 'em coming. I don't see anything frenchy in the cards. Has to be something a southern boy can pronounce. I realy liked Respite for the compac but it seems kind of tame for a lively beneteau.

4-Spit

Sadly, adding the hyphen makes it pronounced "spite". On the other hand, 4-Spit has a beauty all its own.

Respite to Hell

I dont think ye olde Southern folk would have any problems with this one, especially if they left out that fancy "respite" part.

I'm still voting 4-Spit, though.
