I'm putting my 235, a 1990 Wing Keel, hull #353 on the market. She's a pretty well equipped 235 with a lot of recent maintenance already completed.

Some of the highlights include:

  • A thorough bottom job completed in 2005, including a re-fairing of the wing keel from templates and the installation of flush thru-hulls. Finished with white Pettit Vivid. You won't need to perform more than regular bottom paint maintenance for many years.
  • A brand new TackTick Micronet M100 system (speed/depth) installed.
  • Includes both the stock rudder and hardware and the custom kick-up rudder built by IdaSailor. The kick-up rudder system performed flawlessly for me. It eliminates all of the problems people experience with the rudder system on the 235. It's installed, debugged and ready to go.
  • Removal of the interior vinyl liner. The interior has been cleaned and the bare fiberglass has been painted with a basic white, high-gloss enamel.
  • Removal of the old plumbing. A new head has been installed and the waste lines have been run. You'll just need to strap down the included, brand-new holding tank and fit the waste lines for a brand-new sanitation system.
  • New dacron cruising sails in 2004. Includes a Quantum main and a Quantum 135.
  • New Contender Maxx racing sails in 2005. Includes a Contender Maxx racing main and a Contender Maxx 155. Maxx material is 09 weight Euro Pen, the Pentex variant.
  • Also includes the stock working jib and a brand new UK Flasher asymmetrical crusing spinnaker. Also includes an old J/24 kite.
  • Brand new standing rigging in 2004 from SecoSouth. New Sta-Set running rigging in 2004. Upgraded to a US Spars rigid vang. Lots of harken carbo upgrades.
  • A dual-axle Loadmaster trailer. Dual 3,500# axles, electric brakes, tongue extension, galvanized. Works well as a float-on/float-off trailer on reasonable ramps. Also works well for lifting the boat on and off the trailer using a travelift. Also includes a Draw-Tite 750# weight distributing hitch, which makes the rig tow really, really well at highway speeds.
  • A '90s 8hp 4-stroke Honda (I don't know the exact year). The engine needs a carb rebuild and a new water pump impeller. Runs great when tuned up. It's a 25" shaft, which provides lots of grunt. People make jokes about being able to waterski behind the boat.
  • Tons of miscellaneous parts and equipment. If you're seriously interested and want a complete list, feel free to contact me.

The boat is ready to go for club racing. This boat will also make a nice cruising boat if you choose to outfit it in that manner. Buy this package and you're ready to go up to Jon's LOCCR regatta on Lake Ontario.

Asking $10,000 or best offer. Boat located in Charlotte, North Carolina. I'm happy to answer any questions or provide additional information.

Heh... You guys quit whining and have the regatta! If my not going somehow changes the minds of other people, they weren't really going to go to begin with...

If the boat hasn't sold by then, maybe I'll come up there for one last hurrah...

The sails and trailer alone are worth the $10K price. This is by far too low of a price and a great deal on one of the nicest 235's around. Sorry to hear your selling Michael.

Jon... Is there someone that would race if they had some help? If so, I'd be willing to do something like that...

Pat needs some more pushing, I was working on him a few nights ago.

Maybe Griffin?

Maybe Ken would do it fer sure if he had some help?

Laurie & Eric?

Loafers new owner in Toronto?

Most of the people who are interested seem to just want to crew & if nobody brings a boat obviously there will be none to crew on.

It just feels disheartening to put forth tons of effort with little or no response.

Michael, I'm surprised. If you don't mind, tell us why you are selling. We all looked to you as leader in pushing the 235 to it full potential. I hope you are moving up. If anyone needs a 235 this would be a good buy. Pat

Michael,

I’m sorry you are putting your boat on the market. I was hopeful we could hook up for at least a couple races on the lake this season. I assume you’ll be missing the BHIR next month.

Good luck with whatever direction you go.
